Oundle Lens Loop

Route

A cracking little loop out of Oundle that mixes quiet lanes and proper corner-work — exactly the sort of roads used for bike photoshoots (MCN, Ride & Bike). There are a couple of straighter linking sections, but most of it is bendy, flowing and good fun.

Quick Stats

  • Distance: 63 miles

  • Allow: 1 hr 45 mins (plus stops)

  • Start/Finish (fuel): Gulf, New Road, Oundle, Peterborough PE8 4DB

Highlights

  • B1043 run (Stilton / Glatton direction) – quick, tidy and fun when it’s clear.

  • B660 section – classic “old-school” A-road feel with nice flow.

  • A45 roundabout section – easy navigation, keeps the loop moving.

  • Little & Great Addington lanes – smaller roads that add a bit of spice.

  • Corby / Weldon finish – a simple run back to Oundle once you’re through.

Rider notes

  • Best ridden early or mid-week — a lot of these roads are great when they’re empty, but can get bogged down if you hit commuter or school traffic.

  • Easy-to-miss bits (from the map):

    • Don’t miss the left turn ~300m from the roundabout to stay on the B1043.

    • Go under the bridge, turn left, then left again to stay on the B660.

    • Go straight over the A45 roundabout (don’t peel off with the main flow).

    • Don’t miss the right turn onto the minor road to Little & Great Addington.

  • Surfaces: expect the odd patch of mud/grit on the minor roads, especially after rain and near farm entrances.

  • Traffic pinch points: watch for slower traffic around Corby/Kettering/Northampton edges — if it clogs up, just ride your own pace and wait for safe overtakes.

  • Fuel/coffee: easy at the start in Oundle — after that it’s mostly small towns/villages, so plan stops if you like a proper break.
