Worcester Loop

Route

short, punchy loop out of Worcester that strings together some of the best tarmac around the Malvern Hills — fast, flowing B-roads, pretty villages, and a cracking run down through Ledbury before heading back via Bromyard / Martley. Ideal “after work / half-day” territory if you time it right.

Highlights

  • Malvern Hills lanes and countryside views

  • Upton upon Severn → Little Malvern section (great scenery, can be tight/narrow)

  • Ledbury run-through (old-town feel, good coffee stop if you detour)

  • B4220 toward Bosbury — lovely flowing rural road

  • B4197 / Martley section back toward Worcester (proper “ridey” B-road)

Rider notes

  • A4104 through town centre can be narrow and busy — take it steady (especially weekends).

  • In Ledbury, watch the traffic lights and stay on the intended line down the high street (easy to drift off-route).

  • Bosbury / B4220: follow the road round to the right as it becomes the B4220 (don’t accidentally peel off).

  • Keep an eye out for the A4130 left, then (after ~400m) a right to rejoin the B4220.

  • Don’t miss the left for the B4197 after the bridge (the Armco-lined bit is the clue).

  • Mixed surfaces are possible on the rural bits (mud/grit/tractor mess) — especially after rain.
